I don't think Roddenberry had a vision for this film. Gene Roddenberry, I got along with but I soon learned he had his own blind vision about everything from how things looked at the speed of light to the size of the 12 ft. in diameter doors on the Enterprise. I really think the most successful pieces on the original series were the one's he had least to do with.
