PS I've just sent an e-mail to Mars-One suggesting that they get school kids involved now. Today's school kids will be the grown ups on the Mars-One mission teams in 2023 and beyond.

--Some can't even seem to imagine much shorter times apart. To some of her relatives, my American wife being in Europe is about as scary and lonely and unbearably distant as if she was on Mars :-(
