ORIGINAL FICTION: "Bear 2.0" by Tessa Dick

Welcome to our first new story of 2010!

To help us celebrate our return to running original fiction, Tessa Dick has generously allowed us to repring her short story, "Bear 2.0," a tale of futurewar, cybernetics, and the devaluation of the human soul. We're pretty excited about this, since this is not only our first original story of the new year, but it's also our first story by a published author, rather than our normal gaggle of talenten amateurs. It comes from Tessa's 2008 anthology, "Quachi and Other Stories and Poems."

Tessa has been a great friend to us and our site, and we're deeply indebted to her for allowing us the loan of her talented mind. Thank you, Tessa! We appreciate it!

The complete story is under the jump.

What's Tessa Dick Up To These Days?

Our friend and occasional contributor, Tessa Dick, has had some ongoing legal battles with the trust that governs Phillip K. Dick's estate, and this has led to some serious financial woes for her. If you're in a position where you can help out, and you'd like to do so, please check out this site here http://tessadick.chipin.com/legal-war-chest

Happy New Year, and Thank You!

Happy New Year, and a great big thank you to everyone who’s contributed to making this website a success. We initially went online with tests and some minor content in late December of 2008, but we really consider today to be our first anniversary, if we may be disingenuously allowed to commemorate the occasion the training wheels came off, and not the actual day we got the bike.

INTERVIEW: Our Second Interview With Tessa Dick

Yesterday we reviewed “The Owl in Daylight,“ the new novel by Tessa Dick. With us today, we’ve got the author herself to discuss the book with us. Tessa, thank you very much for agreeing to come back and visit us again! Some of our newer readers might not have realized this, but you’re actually the first person to be interviewed *twice* by Republibot.

Tessa Dick:
Thank you. It's a pleasure and an honor to come back for another round of questions.

SCIENCE FICTION BOOK REVIEW: “The Owl in Daylight” by Tessa Dick (2008)

Yesterday we talked about “What if Our World is Their Heaven?” a book which transcribed the final interview with Philip K. Dick, in which he gave a detailed outline for the next book he intended to write, “The Own in Daylight.” Alas, he never lived to do so. Today we’re going to talk about “The Own in Daylight,” a book written by Tessa Dick, Phil’s widow, and published last year, and based on her reminiscences of Phil’s own, unwritten story.

Tessa Dick could use your help.

Tessa Dick is a science fiction writer, and the widow of the late great author Philip K. Dick. We interviewed her a few months back (Interview: http://www.republibot.com/content/interview-tessa-dick ) , and she's been a great friend to the site. Lately, it has become apparent that she's fallen on really hard times, and is in a fairly desperate state, and our hearts really go out to her, as well as our prayers. She's a really nice person, or at least that's the impression I've developed in the few months I've known her online.
