OBITUARY: Kevin McCarthy 1914-2010

Republibot 3.0's picture

I've just learned that Kevin McCarthy died. (The guy from Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and *NOT* the guy from Pretty in Pink, though there is an odd bit of resemblance) He was really really old (96), and he had a good, long, full life, so it's not particularly surprising or tragic, but worth noting just the same. He had a tough life, losing both of his parents to plague - plague! - when he was four, and raised as an orphan. (That was in the Spanish Flu epidemic following world war I). By all acounts, a nice guy. Tough old goat, too.

OBITUARY: Frank Frazetta (1928-2010)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Frank Frazetta was one of the perennial exemplars of fantasy art. He had an immediately recognizable style - mostly involving overly-curvey scantily clad women (Which the Republibot likey!) and oiled, over-muscled loincloth wearing men (Which the Republibot no likey!) He was a much-sought-after artist in the fantasy and SF genres, as well as in other aspects of the entertainment industry.
