Rocket Science Is Hard

On Tuesday, April 14, Space-X successfully launched a Dragon resupply capsule to the International Space Station.  However, their second attempt to land the booster on an autonomous drone ship also failed when the rocket toppled over shortly after touching down.

Astronauts wear space suits which are cooled with thousands of tubes circulating about a gallon of water around the wearer's body.  When the system works, it works pretty well.  However, when one of those tubes springs a leak, things can get pretty unpleasant very fast, as one astronaut on the International Space Station discovered during an extravehicular activity on Tuesday.

I find it galling that we've gone from being the number one spacefaring power in the world, to the number three spot behind China. (Thanks, Mr. President, sir! Way to continue befuddling our allies and enemies alike by doing self-destructive things! Good luck on that second term, sir!) Unlike many people, though, I'm not paranoid about the Chinese in space.
