EPISODE REVIEW: Futurama: “The Mutants are Revolting” (Season 6, episode 12)

Republibot 3.0's picture

This is both the alleged season finale, and the 100th episode of the series. I’d planned to make a snaky* joke about how it took them so long to get to that point, and how that averages out to such a low number per year, but the Hermes actually beat me to the punch on that one before the first commercial break So, disappointed, off we go to the recap

EPISODE REVIEW: Futurama: “Lrrreconcilable Ndndifferences” (Season 6, Episode 11)

No, that’s not a typo, that’s really the title. Really.

As those of you with no life (Like me!) might have surmised, Lrrr is back. He‘s the evil alien overlord who tried to destroy the world a few years back because he missed an episode of Ally McBeal, back in the days when people still gave a rat’s ass about that show. (Episode two, I think? Maybe early episode three. Definitely before Billy died, at any rate.)

EPISODE REVIEW: Futurama: “The Prisoner of Benda” (Season 6, Episode 10)

Republibot 3.0's picture

My thinking going into this episode was “They’re going to have to try really hard to be anywhere as good as last week, and being better than last week is clearly out of the question.” Then I heard this was a brain-switching episode, and those are always comedy gold, right? I mean, if Kim Possible can pull off a hilarious Brain Switch episode - if Chowder can pull off a good one, for gosh sakes - then it’s pretty much a gimmie, right?

EPISODE REVIEW: Futurama: “A Clockwork Origin”(Season 6,Episode 9)

Despite announcing this review would be delayed, my shindig ended early, so I was able to do it after all. Tomorrow's "Eureka" delay really will be delayed, however. Moving on...

Hoo boy. Lots of controversy tonight, kids! And it was a good episode, too!

NOTICE: Futurama and Eureka Reviews Delayed

Republibot 3.0's picture

Just a little heads up: Both tonight's review of "Futurama" and tomorrow's review of "Eureka" are going to be delayed. The kids are going to a killer party tonight, and tomorrow night we're all off to the Synagogue. I'll probably have both of 'em up by Saturday afternoon.

Just so you'll know.

EPISODE REVIEW: Futurama: “That Darn Katz” (Season 6, Episode 8)

Republibot 3.0's picture

I know a lot of people disagree with me, but I really like the “Nibbler” episodes. I like the juxtaposition of cute with ominous that runs through them, and while I’m not a paranoid myself, I just love the idea of huge, massive threats just below the surface of mundane life that everyone is too stupid to notice, or remember. No giant brains this time out, however, just some kitties.

I hate kitties.

EPISODE REVIEW: Futurama: “Lethal Inspection” (Season 6, Episode 6)

Republibot 3.0's picture

There’s some episodes you can go on and on and on about because there’s a lot of neat character stuff or implications swimming around within them; and then there’s other episodes that have it all on the surface, leaving you little to talk about. This is one of those episodes. Also, my left index finger hurts from playing too much guitar (Those high strings on acoustics really chop you up) and my thumb is all goofy, too: a perfect storm of reasons to keep this short. But even if my left hand weren’t all defingulated, I still wouldn’t have too much to say about this one.

EPISODE REVIEW: Futurama: "The Duh-Vinci Code" (Season 6, Episode 5)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Fry is really dumb, and we see several scenes of his stupidity which are supposed to be really funny, but mostly feel like leftover Homer Simpson gags, particularly since the previous four episodes and the movies from "last Year" have shown he isn't quite as stupid as is generally assumed.
