FAN FILM FRIDAY: Starship Farragut: "The Captaincy"

Republibot 3.0's picture

Our esteemed Grand Poobah, Republibot 1.0, has suggested that we start a weekly feature looking at Fan Films. There was some screaming and some tears on my part - I don't respond well to change - but eventually, patiently, after about 30 hours of conversation, and an amazing sock puppet presentation, I finally got what he was saying. I don't actually *remember* what he said now, mind you, but I do remember that I did understand it - briefly - at one point, and that's good enough for me.

FAN FILMS: What Ever Happened to Star Trek Exeter?

Republibot 3.0's picture

While we're not Trekies here at the 'Bot (Well, R2 is...), we are just nuts for fan films, and an increasingly large number of the better ones are Trek-based. Recently we interviewed the Starship Farragut people (Here: http://www.republibot.com/content/interview-fan-films-mark-hildebrand-di... ), which was great fun and highly informative. We've talked to lots of other people from other independent and Fan productions as well, and as a site we're both interested in and dedicated to the Fan Film Community.

INTERVIEW: Joseph Negra of “Venus Rises”

Republibot 3.0's picture

Some of our readers may recall that back in May I posted an article on the site asking for any information about the "Venus Rises" web series that was in development a few years back, but seems to have kind of fallen off the radar recently. ( http://www.republibot.com/content/what-ever-happened-%E2%80%9Cvenus-rise... ) The same day that story went up, we were contacted by Joseph Negra, an actor from the series, who gave us a heads up on the state of the project, and he's kindly agreed to be with us today for an interview. Joseph, thank you very much for being here!

FAN FILM REVIEW: "The Hunt for Gollum" (2009)

Republibot 3.0's picture

This is not science fiction, but since so many SF series - most notably Babylon 5 - have drawn from the Middle Earth Stories, and since we expressed interest in it recently on the site ( http://www.republibot.com/content/things-interest-us-even-though-theyre-... ) It seems only fitting and fair that I review this fan film.
