So here's an interesting press release from our friends over at the Iron Sky production:

FAN FILM FRIDAY: Tim Smith Talks To Us About The Making Of UFO: 1999

Good morning, happy Friday, and welcome to another installment of "Fan Film Friday." Today we'll be interviewing Tim Smith, an in-the-trenches, oldschool Fan Filmaker from Florida. Tim is one of the the two principle creators of the "UFO: 1999" Fan Film series that we've been featuring here on the 'Bot. Tim, thank you very much for agreeing to be with us here, today.

FAN FILM FRIDAY: Wreckamovie.com

So you say you like Fan Films, and want to make your own, but can't get started. So you say you don't really like fan films, but you want to make your own very independent no-budget feature. You know what, my hypothetical friends, your lucky day (Friday) is here! (Today!)

"Wreckamovie" is a website started by Peter Vesterbacka (of "Star Wreck" fame) and others specificaly to get these kinds of below-the-radar and questionably-legal projects rolling.

FAN FILM FRIDAY: "Battlestar Galactica: The 14th Colony" (2005?)

Half a decade ago, I stumbled across mention of a fan film project called "Battlestar Galactica: The 14th Colony." Eventually, I found the trailer for the project, which revealed very little about it, but it did make it clear that it was a continuation of the 1978 Galactica, and probably a reaction to the RDM Galactica to some extent. The tag line was "Some Still Believe..." which certainly makes one think that, anyway.

FAN FILM FRIDAY: "UFO: 1999 SID's Return" (2001)

A month ago we featured a "Bridge" fan film parody that tied UFO and Space: 1999 together. Much to my surprise, it turns out the same people did another one. This episode gives us more of the same, but it also throws some Captain Scarlet into the mix. Check it out after the jump.

FAN FILM FRIDAY: "Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming" (1999)

Some months ago, we did an entry about "The Battlestar Galactica You Never Got To see," an attempted revival by Richard Hatch. Here's the old entry http://www.republibot.com/content/%E2%80%9C-galactica-you-didn%E2%80%99t... Now, this trailer is amazingly hard to come by. Our own Republibot 2.0 actually helped work on the project back in the day, and even he never got to see a copy of it, so, honestly, it's rare as hen's teeth. When we did that earlier story, we had to content ourselves with a crappy video camera copy of the trailer, in which it was mostly impossible to make out what was going on. "Pat" over at the United Worlds forum, however, has uncovered an actual decent copy, however, and I felt this was post-worthy. Just click on through to see what might have been, but probably couldn't.

FAN FILM FRIDAY: "The Ten Doctors"

As we've related elsewhere, the Fan Film universe consists of Star Wars, Star Trek, and assorted debris. Of course that was intended as a joke, but definitely it's true that those two franchises tend to dominate things to an annoying extent. I mean, seriously, how hard would it be to get some surplus Night Ops BDUs and run around in the woods with toy guns playing "Stargate?" Yet no one ever does it.

Thus it gives me great pleasure to introduce something that isn't Stargate or Star Wars: "The Ten Doctors," a Doctor(s) Who adventure.
