FAN FILM FRIDAY: Star Trek TOS: Beyond Antares

Yeah, I know I said I wanted to get away from the Big Three of fan film inspirations, but this one is rather interesting. It's a CGI episode stitched together and animated from random bits of original dialog, and completed over three years while the animator was struggling with lymphatic cancer.

Fan Film Friday: Superman's 75th

This is not a fan film in the sense that we normally think of as fan films.
This is an officially made, officially sanctioned, you can't get much more official than this animated short.

That said- this is animation that is made by fans for fans... there are a metric tonne of easter eggs in it, and the love for the character is evident...
So from Zak Snyder and Bruce Timm--- we have "Superman 75th Anniversary"

Fan Film Friday: Star Wars "Call Me Maybe"

Republibot 4.0's picture

OK, I haven't had a chance to find a really good Fan Film, so this one from my WTF slushpile is gonna hafta suffice. Unfortunately if you don't know the song it's filking, it's totally unintelligible gibberish. So I'm including a very non-SF-link to the original song.

This is what is possible when you have a digital editor and way, way, WAYYYYYYYYY too much time on your hands...!

FAN FILM FRIDAY: Flash Gordon 1980--In Six Minutes and 18 Seconds

Well, Kevin, you asked for it--to review the 1980 "Flash Gordon" movie would require that one of us actually sit through it. So I found an alternative. "Flash Gordon In A Nutshell," edited by Hedvig U., which almost makes this campy stinker bearable. Imagine what the other 104 minutes and 42 seconds were like...

I wonder whether King Features was pleased with what they got, after turning George Lucas down...?

FAN FILM FRIDAY: LEGO My Star Wars

Republibot 4.0's picture

In honor of the release of Dark Horse Comics' adaptation of George Lucas' original draft for the script of Star Wars, I've found a couple LEGO Star Wars fan films. These things are everywhere. And while I think it's cheating to use CGI LEGO figures instead of doing it the old fashioned way with tedious incremental movements and single frame advances, like we did back when I was in film school, you can't deny that *tschyt,* these things are funny...
