EPISODE REVIEWS: Batman: The Brave and the Bold: ""Game Over for the Owlman" (Season 1, episode 13)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Hi there! Republibot 3.0 here, filling in for R2, who's had an unfortunate confluence of movie tickets and VCR malfunctions and hence can not be with us today reviewing this show, even though it's his beat. I'll be pinch hitting on his behalf, but he'll be back next week.

Today's episode was the second half of the two-part season finale. If you're not up to speed, R2's review of part 1 is online here http://www.republibot.com/content/tv-review-batman-brave-and-bold-deep-c... and if you are up to speed, here we go:

EPISODE REVIEWS: Dollhouse: "The Grey Hour" (Episode 4)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Hey, whadya' know? A month in to the run of this rapidly-dying muddle of a show and we finally got a good episode!

We start off in mid-mission with Echo as a midwife helping a couple deliver their baby amidst embarasingly bad dialog ("You mean she's going to be a lesbian?"), then we cut to deprogramming and Echo back at the Dollhouse hanging out with Sierra and Victor. Topher has noticed this, and attributes it to the herd instinct you see when flocks of birds turn on a dime, and not some kind of hidden memory.

EPISODE REVIEW: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: "Ourselves Alone" (Season 2, Episode 17)

Republibot 3.0's picture

I gotta' tell you, these friday nights are wearing me down. Three shows bing-bing-bing is borderline too much, borderline over-stimulation. Then writing up the post-game show is kind of time consuming and grueling. I mean, I can do it, it's not like having a real job, but it's a lot to hold a play by play of all three of these shows in my feeble brain for the five hours or so it takes to watch 'em and write 'em up. If my writing is suffering as a result, I apologize. It'll get 30% easier in just a couple more weeks.

Republibot 3.0's picture

And thus ends our Friday-night Science Fiction Triple Feature:

The Galactica and her fleet are still in orbit around Earth. Tyrol and a mostly-Cylon crew are fixing the interior structure of the ship. Anders is still in a coma. Caprica 6 and Tigh are still expecting their baby.

TV Reviews: Dollhouse: "The Target" (Episode 2)

Republibot 3.0's picture

This episode is simultaneously much better, and much more disappointing than last week's debut.

We start off with a flashback scene to three months ago when one of the Actives goes whacky and kills a skillion other Actives and guards in the Dollhouse. He leave Echo alive, however.

TV REVIEW: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: "Desert Cantos" (Season 2, Episode 15)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Welcome to part one of the Friday Night SF Triple Feature!

Last week, as you'll recall, the lead singer for Garbage blew up a mysterious factory out in the desert while a whole bunch of other stuff went on involving Sarah, John, John's girlfriend Riley, and The Terminator Previously Known As Cromarti (And currently known as "John Henry.") Much of that stuff I didn't understand as I hadn't watched the show for 10 episodes or so, but fortunately most of it was completely irrelevant to this week's episode.

EPISODE REVIEWS: Lost : "Flight 316" (Season 5, Episode 6)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Haven't we been here before?

We start out with what seems like a flashback to Jack awakening in the bamboo forrest in the first episode, but which quickly proves to be a flash forward involving less impaling to the time when they get *back* to the island.

EPISODE REVIEWS: Macross Zero: “Blue and Desperate Battle”(Episode 3, 2003)

Republibot 3.0's picture

We pick up right where we left off, with Sara singing naked in the sacred pond, and stuff floating through the air. Sara herself seems surprised by this, then she realizes Shin is watching her, and covers herself more in annoyance than embarrassment. The rocks and things fall. She cautions him that the bonds between ground and rock are failing, as are the bonds between people, and soon the bonds that hold the world together will fail.

EPISODE REVIEWS: Battlestar Galactica: “No Exit” (Season 4, Episode 15)

Republibot 3.0's picture

…and suddenly, just like that, we know everything!

We start out 18 months ago, with Saul Tigh killing Ellen. Ellen then resurrects in a Base Ship, and is met by Brother Cavil - “John” - who evidently has known who the Final Five were all along, but has kept it from the others for unstated reasons.

On Galactica, Anders has a bullet in his brain that has removed whatever kind of memory blocks were in place, and he starts relating The Story So Far to the final five:
