EPISODE CROSSOVER DEALIE REVIEW THING: Generator Rex: “Heroes United” (Season 3, Episodes 3 and 4)

Our Friday Night animation coverage has been a bit spotty for a few months now. I’m not entirely sure if we even cover either of these shows anymore. I know *I* don’t cover ‘em, but I can’t remember if somebody picked up Ben 10 or not. Certainly I’m not picking either of these shows back up, I’m well and truly, great and mightily burned out from the nights where I had to review four or five back-to-back-to-back shows. Just the same, it’s a crossover, so I thought I should at least note it.

EPISODE REVIEW: Terra Nova: “Vs”(Episode 8)

Republibot 3.0's picture

The Republiboy has announced that tonight is the last chance he’s giving the show. If this episode stinks, he’s done. Ratings were down about 750,000 viewers last week, but 400,000 over the week before that. Ratings are holding average around 8 million overall, which is probably a little disappointing for FOX, but probably good enough to get another half season like this.

We shall see.

EPISODE REVIEW: Terra Nova: “Proof” (Episode 7)

Two weeks ago the show finally got good, then last week is was right back to New Crap City. Despite the all-over-the-place quality of the series, ratings have been fairly consistent at about 8 million folks a week. Just a tick under. We are now in the second half of the season, make-it-or-break-it time. If they can hold around this level for the next six episodes, they will be back next season. If they can’t, they won’t.

Let’s find out if it’s worth the effort:

In fact, it wasn’t bad. Second best episode so far.

EPISODE REVIEW: Walking Dead: "Chupacabra" (Season 2, Episode 5)

Well…

Something is definitely out of place on the farm. More about that later. This is another generally good episode, but I’d be remiss, in light of my criticisms of Falling Skies, if I didn’t note that the missing Sophia situation is being milked. It’s not a critical flaw at the moment, but it is what it is.

EPISODE REVIEW: Green Lantern: The Animated Series: "Beware my Power" (Episodes 1 and 2)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Well, it's late and I'm cranky, and I'm feeling sorta' over-used and under-loved as it is, but pretty clearly no one else is gonna' do this, so I guess I'll review the premier.

A Green Lantern gets killed by two Red Lanterns. Yeah, I don't know what they are either.

RETROSPECULATIVE TV: Babylon 5: “TKO” (Season 1, Episode 14)

So after two-and-a-half great episodes in a row, we’re right back to crap city. A lot of people consider this the worst B5 episode every. They’re wrong. It isn’t even the worst B5 episode we’ve seen thus far in the first season. It is pretty terrible, though, and yet there is one thing to like.

Garibaldi’s old friend, Walker Smith, visits the station. He’s a washed up prize fighter who got blacklisted, and he hopes that by competing in an alien combat sport - the Mutai - he’ll get enough notoriety to get his career going again. It works. Yawn.

EPISODE REVIEW: Terra Nova: “Nightfall” (Episodes 6)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Last week, as you’ll recall, the show was actually *GOOD.* For this, they were rewarded with six and a half million viewers, down almost two million from the week before, but up one and a half million from the week before that. Baseball and Halloween have played merry hell with their ratings, and given the insane budget on this show, it’s anyone’s guess whether it’ll stabilize at a high-enough level to justify a second season.

But let’s not concern ourselves with that. Was last week a fluke, or has the show finally found its feet?

Sadly, nope.

EPISODE REVIEW: The Walking Dead: ‘Cherokee Rose” (Season 2, Episode 4)

Right off the bat, this is a slow one.

Let’s make that clear up front. After last week’s intense zombie homecoming at the high school, this is a vignette of character bits, with one nasty little gross-out thrown in just to remind us what show we’re watching. So if you’re of a mind that this season meanders more than it needs to, you’ll probably notice that this episode. If you’re not, you won’t care.

EPISODE REVIEW: Terra Nova: “Bylaw“ (Episode 5)

A good episode! A genuinely good episode! Who would have seen it coming?

Investigating the death of a soldier, Jim concludes that it’s actually a murder staged to look like a dino-accident. He finds that the soldier in question was having an affair with a married woman. Upon questioning her, her cuckolded husband shows up and admits to everything. He’s banished in accordance with the bylaws: Given a gun and a backpack, and don’t let the door hitcha’. Of course you know it’s not going to be that easy because we’re only 20 minutes into the episode.

EPISODE REVIEW: The Walking Dead: "Bloodletting" (Season 2, Episode 2)

As you may recall, when last we left our band of survivors they were split up. The little girl, Sophie, was still missing. Aged mechanic Dale and T-Dog were holding down the base camp on the Interstate. Woodsy Darryl was leading the women back that way while searching for Sophie on the other side of the creek. And Sheriff Rick and Deputy Shane were scouring the church area with Rick’s son Carl in tow. They saw a deer, Carl approached it and got hit by a hunter’s bullet that went through the deer.

All in all, not a good day. So what now?
