EPISODE REVIEW: Iron Man:Armored Adventures: “Field Trip” (Episode 8)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Sorry it took me a week to get this review up, but life got in the way. The good news, however, is that it was worth the wait and that with “Meltdown” two weeks ago, this one, and tonight’s new episode, this turkey of a show has finally hit some kind of a stride and is becoming worth watching. It’s not all the way there yet, but they seem to have finally hit on the idea that they need (A) stories and (B) to make use of their characters.

EPISODE REVIEW: Macross Zero: “The Birdman” (Episode 5, 2004)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Episode four ended with Sara and Aires getting nabbed by the bad guys while Roy and Shin looked on impotently. This one starts out with the two of them being airlifted back to the aircraft carrier Askua, just off of Mayan Island. Meanwhile, back on the Anti-UN submarine aircraft carrier (Which is very cool!), the Professor continues to lecture the women folk about the evils of the UN and how he hopes to use the Birdman to offset the advantage the UN has from managing to nab the Alien Space Ship 1 (AKA the Macross) when it crashed in to South Antaria Island nine years before.

They wonder where people like Magic Happy Unicorn Princess from a couple weeks ago are getting their exo-suits from. Once they find out Pepper's dad has been badly injured, they feel bad about it and decide to help her out, but of course she's petulent and mad at them, and uses her dad's computer to track down who was responsible.

EPISODE REVIEW: Lost: "The Incident" (Season 5, episodes 16 and 17)

Republibot 3.0's picture

From the very beginning of ‘Lost,’ it has been apparent that there’s something at work in the lives of the lostaways that is larger than they are. They’re part of a much bigger scheme that they, themselves, are mostly unaware of much like an ant is unaware of the larger meaning of the battlefield its mound happens to be in, or the way an individual gear in your car’s transmission is unaware of the larger international economy that gave rise to it’s own existence and function.

Since we've been away such a long time, here's a really good FMV I found to get us all back in the mood. Watch this and then we'll get to the review:

Freakin' beautiful, isn't it?

EPISODE REVIEW: Batman: The Brave and the Bold: “Night of the Huntress” (Season 2, Episode 3)

Hello. I’m Republibot 3.0. I’m pinch hitting for R2, since he was off watching some crazy movie with space ships and monsters and stuff like that there, and couldn’t make his normal beat.

EPISODE REVIEW: Dollhouse: “Omega” (Episode 12 - Series Finale)

Republibot 3.0's picture

“We’re superior people, with a touch of German thrown in. What could possibly go wrong?”
---- Echo.

I have to admit, I’m kind of blown away by it all. Though Mr. Whedon really only delivered half a series, and only half of that was any good, the bit that was good totally lived up to the hype, even if that doesn’t completely redeem the slow, boring, uninspired start.

I’m going to do this in chronological order, rather than follow the fractured narrative structure of the episode, since it’ll make it easier for you, the reader

Tony and Blizz hit it off, having a lot in common. Blizz intends to steal back all his inventions for Staind, and then take the guy down. Tony signs on to help him.

EPISODE REVIEW: Lost: “Follow the Leader” (Season 5, Episode 15)

Republibot 3.0's picture

There’s a curious feeling that things are getting better and better in 2007, and worse and worse in 1977, a feeling that while Locke may be on the edge of saving the world in the present (or close to the present), Jack and company are on the edge of destroying not only the world, but time itself thirty years before. It’s uneasy, and I have to think deliberately off-balance. As usual, there’s more going on here than anyone is telling, but here’s what we do know:

EPISODE REVIEW: Dollhouse: “Briar Rose” (Episode 11)

Republibot 3.0's picture

If you’d told me two months ago that a show as crappy as Dollhouse would end up mesmerizing me, I’d have called you a liar, a filthy, Buffy-obsessed Whedonite liar. The show was a turd. I mean, go back and read my early reviews. I stand by ‘em: it stank. And yet a bit over a month back, the show instantly rocketed in to position to claim the “Most Improved Student” award. It really is compelling and occasionally amazing TV, way better than the final season of Galactica.
