Environmentalism

BOOK REVIEW: “The Wind From Nowhere” by JG Ballard (1962)
Submitted by Republibot 3.0 on Mon, 08/02/2010 - 00:00It occurred to me while reading this book that J.G. Ballard really is the high-lord grand poobah of Science Fiction disaster novels. There’s at least five of them I can think of off the top of my head that all follow a similar plot: Nature goes screwy, and everyone dies, or is very likely to die in the near future. Selfrighteous Hippies: Helping the Rich Get Richer by Killing People In Africa (And Elsewhere)
Submitted by Republibot 3.0 on Fri, 02/06/2009 - 09:37I’m not ordinarily a ‘cause’ oriented kind of guy. It is my opinion that – at least in American life – mass-media-driven causes are basically institutionalized attempts to make a lot of money by playing off the gullibility and liberal white guilt of our fellow citizens. I’ve always been skeptical, but these kinds of things, even when they’re done with the best of intentions, always seem to go wrong. Remember all that grain that USA for Africa purchased for starving Ethiopians when we were teenagers?
