DC UPDATE: I Am Personally Going to Assassinate Geoff Johns

Ok, not really. But that was a great headline, right? Right?! Anyway... Yesterday marked the beginning of DC Comics' "Zero Month", in which all of DC's titles would be numbered 0 for the month of September, marking the end of the first year of DC's The New 52 relaunch. I went on record last year saying this wouldn't last a year. I stand corrected, because there are as yet no signs that DC will revert back to the pre-Flashpoint continuity. The tagline for Zero Month is "New Characters Introduced. Secret Origins Told. Mysteries Revieled". It is about one of the new characters introduced that I would like to rant and rave about, and why I spent three hours last night praying that Geoff Johns would be smited with gross boils all over his pretty boy face.

DC UPDATE: The Dark Knight Rises

Alright, I just got home from The Dark Knight Rises. This is listed as a DC Update instead of a movie review because I'm not going to review this movie. At least, not yet. Due to the nature of the movie I can not effectively review it without giving away sensitive information. This movie does not translate to my spoiler free review policy. To that end, I am going to delay my review for one week. A week from this monday I will post my review for all to read. You have until then to see the movie.

DC UPDATE: What Are You Reading?

This is going to be a short column this month, mostly because it has only been a so-so month in comics. We're in the saggy middle section of the New 52 inagural story arcs, most of which I expect to last 6 issues. I will say this, however, if Action Comics issue #7 rolls around and Superman is still running around in the jeans and t-shirt, I'm dropping that book. He should be in his Kryptonian battle suit in that title already. I didn't like the t-shirt look when they did it to Kon-El and I certainly don't like it on Kal-El, especially with the stupid cape tucked into his t-shirt.

DC UPDATE: Coming Together

Now that month 2 of DC's The New 52 reboot (man, I am REALLY starting to hate that word) is behind us things are starting to come together and stories are really starting to emerge. Superman is still rocking the jeans and t-shirt look over in Action Comics, Hal Jordan has gotten back his GL ring after it was taken from him and given to Sinestro, after Hal killed Krona at the Climax of the War of the Green Lanterns storyline and Superman has come to blows with Batman and Green Lantern in a DCU handicap match.

DC UPDATE: The New 52: First Impressions

Now that the first issues have all been released in DC's The New 52 line of reboots, and having read the first issues (at least those of the series I'm interested enough in to keep up with) my feelings are very mixed about the whole thing.

DC UPDATE: The New 52: Week One (An Introduction)

Yesterday marked the beginning of The New 52, the marketing tagline being given to the new line of DC Comics books. The actual beginning was last Wednesday with the release of Justice League #1, however the event truly began this week. Over the course of the month DC Comics will be revamping and relaunching 52 of its titles and our new DC Update feature will follow its progress every month.
