BREAKING NEWS: The Nintendo 3DS Is The Greatest Thing In The History Of Things!

Republibot 3.0's picture

The Nintendo 3DS just came out today. Immediately after first service at church we ran over to Gamestop and my eldest picked up his reserved copy, amidst a small crowd of fat smelly guys and average-looking gamer girls dressed up like aliens. In Nebraska.

BREAKING NEWS: Unsurprisingly, I'm Wrong Again - The Venture Brothers Gets Two More Seasons

Republibot 3.0's picture

Regular readers will recall back in November, when The Venture Brothers season finale aired, and I proclaimed it the somewhat anticlimactic series finale. Jackson Publick himself elliptically called me on this, since the show hadn't been cancelled. I apologized publicly here, and privately to Publick via email (Which I have no reason to assume he ever got).

Congresswoman Shot

Republibot 3.0's picture

Earlier today, Democratic Representative Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head, along with as many as sixteen other people. The story's been bouncing around back and forth for a while - she's dead/she's not, a whole bunch of people are dead/not so many people are dead - I don't know the specifics, I don't think anyone fully knows it right now, though obviously the details will be everywhere in the next few days.

BREAKING NEWS: Stargate Universe is officially cancelled.

Republibot 3.0's picture

If I love it, it will die.

Stargate Universe has been cancelled by Syfy. The largest and riskiest departure from the standard Stargate format has also been the only unsuccessful one. The announcement was made earlier today

There's also been a lot of twitter chatter about it

BREAKING NEWS: The Venture Brothers is *NOT* Cancelled, and I'm prrrrrrrrobably a jerk.

Republibot 3.0's picture

I've rambled on a bit about the decline of The Venture Brothers over the past two years, a show that I absolutely adored when it first came out, and loved for most of it's run, even the third season where most people started bailing out. If I've been harsh on the show, it's because I loved it once. It felt like it was the kind of thing that was made *Exclusively* for me, personally, and then, suddenly, it wasn't any more.

BREAKING NEWS: Caprica is Officially Cancelled

Republibot 3.0's picture

Coming as a surprise to no one, Caprica has been officially cancelled by Syfy. Never a huge ratings draw, viewership dropped from a premier-high of about 1.6 million viewers to a bit below 1.2 million during the initial run of nine episodes, rebounding a bit towards the end of that run.

Since the mid-season break, the show has been bleeding ratings like a stuck pig, dropping nearly a half-million viewers. The episode last week hit 718,000 viewers, and the ratings for the episode that aired last night aren't available online yet, but I'm expecting the overnights were even lower.

BREAKING NEWS: Chuck is back, V is back, FlashForward is as good as dead.

Republibot 3.0's picture

The Hollywood Reporter (No, I've never heard of it before either. Must be a local Florida paper or something) is reporting that FlashForward, the ambitious, experimental, but ultimately not-very-good SF series on ABC is dead, dead, deadily-dead.

Did I say 'dead?' That's actually a bit premature. The story doesn't actually *Say* FF is dead, but it's "Unlikely to return," this after its initial episode order was already whittled down by several hours several months back.

BREAKING NEWS: "Smallville" picks up season 10!

sysadmin 2.0's picture

Variety is reporting that Smallville has been picked up for season ten.  Although technically the show was 'on the bubble' it is the timeslot's winner with the hard-to-reach 18-49 male demographic.

Personally, I credit Zatanna.

So, it looks like I have a job for another year.

And maybe they'll finally let the poor guy fly.
