EPISODE REVIEW: Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: “Where the Magic Happens” (Season 1, Episode 14)

Last week I complained about how I just wasn’t feeling Ben 10 anymore, and I didn’t wanna’ review the show anymore, and my fingers hurt and my heart is beating fast and I keep hearing calliope music and I’m tasting metal. I declared that I was probably gonna’ drop it from my Friday night review schedule. Said review went on to get 1002 reads. Alas, burned out though I may be, there’s no way I can pass up those kinds of numbers, so here we are again, kids. Once more with feeling. Well, no, feeling is asking too much. Just once more. Once more…

EPISODE REVIEW: Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: “Deep” (Season 1, Episode 13)

Gah. This is killing me. This is my third review in an hour, and even with my shiny new style of writing reviews that *aren’t* sixteen pages long, it’s just too much. I’m dying here. Thank God for R2 and Sam, and the others who cover Friday night stuff on the other channels, or I’d never catch up. Just the same, I need, need, need, need, someone to step up and take over some of these reviews. I just can’t keep it up.

Anyway…

EPISODE REVIEW: Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: “Reflected Glory” (Episode 12)

Republibot 3.0's picture

This is a episode by Peter David is a standalone that really could have fit pretty much anywhere in the run of the series, but it was probably a good idea stick it here following last week’s raucous two-parter. It provides a tonal shift and a departure from formula that sort of eases the transition back to business as usual.

EPISODE REVIEW: Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: “Ultimate Aggregore” and “Map of Infinity” (Season 1, Episodes 10 and 11)

Consarn it! I’ve mentioned a few times that my kids are kind of losing interest in Ben 10, and aging out of it, and as a result I’m kind of losing interest in it myself. Then they go and do something like this, which was just unquestionably great from start to finish.

EPISODE REVIEWS: Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: “Fused” (Season 1, Episode 8)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Wow. Did you know that Wiki says the first season of this show will be 32 episodes? That’s just got to be crazy talk, don’t you think? I mean, that can’t possibly be true. Most animated series run 13 episodes to a season on CN.

EPISODE REVIEW: Ben Ten Ultimate Alien: “Andreas’ Fault” (Season 1, Episode 7)

Sorry to be so late on this review. I was getting snacks during the first commercial break of this episode last night, and spilled grape juice all over the stairs. I had to clean that up, and missed the rest of the episode.

Argit, the weird, conniving little Porcupine/Rat/Weasel alien boy thing that occasionally runs scams with Kevin, is now running a protection racket: If the Forever Knights will give him $100,000/month, he’ll see to it that their castles don’t fall down. They refuse to pay, and, of course the castles do fall.

EPISODE REVIEW: Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: “Too Hot To Handle” (Season 1, Episode 6)

P’andor, the Russian-accented alien from last week’s episode, is permanently sealed in armor. (What they would have called an “Encounter Suit” on Babylon 5) Now slumming on earth, he’s none to happy about this, and is paying various safecrackers and hoods to try and break him out of it. Kevin, in his occasional hood mode, decides to help out.

EPISODE REVIEW: Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: "Escape from Agreggor" (Season 1, Episode 5)

Republibot 3.0's picture

I'm having trouble concentrating tonight, and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids, a cartoon that no one but me remembers, keeps flooding through my head for some reason. In light of this, I took a lot of notes while watching the show. Normally I don't do this, normally I just trust my memory and my amazing powers of seeing stuff that probably isn't there, which might be subtext and clues, or it might just not be there.

EPISODE REVIEW: Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: “Computer Games” (Season 1, Episode 4)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Maybe it’s just me, maybe I’m in a bad mood tonight, maybe I’m just accentuating the negative, but all the shows we cover this evening have felt kinda’ sub-par to me for some reason. Witness this episode, which really makes no sense: Ben gets approached by a videogame designer to do a game with him as the star. He puts on a Motion Capture leotard, and transforms for a few hours, then is sent on his way. Later on, a big spider-bot - and by the way, I am so totally sick of spiderbots - attacks him really effectively, countering all of his attacks, then runs off.
