Batman Beyond Returns! And then leaves all too quickly...

Kevin Long's picture

There were a zillion thngs Warners animation could have done for Batman's 75th anniversiary, but they decided to revisit he long-defunct DCAU. Not only that: they decided to revisit BAtman Beyond, which has always been the gutsiest Batman sho ever. It's an odd choice, but one i totally went into dorkgasm over. Check it out:

Fan Film Friday: Batman and Joker are Friends: Down the Hill

"Batman's rich history allows him to be interpreted in a multitude of ways. To be sure, this is a lighter incarnation, but it's certainly no less valid and true to the character's roots than the tortured avenger crying out for mommy and daddy. AND BESIDES, THOSE EASTER BUNNIES LOOK REALLY SCARY, RIGHT?!"-- Bat-Mite (Batman: The Brave and the Bold)

With that in mind, and with profound apologies to a shaper of my childhood, Arnold Lobel, we present "Batman and Joker are Friends" by Harry Bauer

Gotham: "Pilot" (Season 1, Episode 1)

So who's up to see Thomas and Martha Wayne killed yet again? Twenty-fourth time's a charm, or so I'm told.

Surprisingly, Gotham isn't bad for TV. What it lacks in narrative originality it tends to make up in nice visuals. For every bit of pithy dialogue there is a matching clunker, but there might be possibilities here if the conceit of a young, non-Bat Bruce Wayne and a bunch of precursor Bat villains doesn't run out of gas.

Republibot 4.0's picture

If you're a fan of the animated Batman and Superman series, then you'll probably get a kick out of this short segment from Tim Daly's (the voice of Superman) "The Daly Show." It guest stars Tim's son Sam (who also voices Superman) and Kevin Conroy, the "quintessential" voice of Batman. It's a little trippy...

DC UPDATE: Arrow Trailer Released

Wil Avitt's picture

Warner Bros and the CW have released the first footage of what could end up being one of the best shows of the new fall season, Arrow. If you're unaware, Arrow is based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, first made popular on television played by Justin Hartley on Smallville. Make no mistake, Arrow is NOT a Smallville spin-off. They share no continuity, as you will see in the trailer.

MOVIE REVIEW: The Dark Knight Rises

Wil Avitt's picture

Well, here we are, my review of The Dark Knight Rises. It's a week late, but I'm sure you'll all agree that the delay was both necessary and worth it, as giving people a little extra time to see the movie allows us to have a better discussion of it. If you didn't catch my DC Update last week, I will offer one last warning. The following review contains MASSIVE SPOILERS. If you haven't seen the movie yet, I highly suggest you do not read on any further.
