Episode Review: V – We Can't Win (Season 1, Episode 8)

Republibot 1.0's picture

Ok, this is really late and I apologize – I will have last week’s up tomorrow and then back on Tuesday with the new episode… possibly. Hopefully. All I can say is that, work has been crazy and it is still snowing here in Utah. And I just had a KFC Mashed Potato Bowl and a root beer float. Not that you need to hear about my deteriorating eating habits and lack of physical fitness. Anyway, Comcast says: “We Can’t Win – Chad and Anna visit Geneva, Switzerland, with Anna toting a technological gift to present at the UN Energy Summit; Erica discovers that the V Task Force is looking into the Fifth Column; trust issues and baby worries prompt Valerie to go on the run.”

Let’s deal with this after the jump and I promise not to dwell on lack of a life.

REPUBLIBOT WEEKEND MOVIE PREVIEW: Movies Opening 4-16-10

Alright!! I am done apologizing. So I missed last week. Sue me. You aren’t my boss. You don't tell me what to do. You don't own me. I am Republibot 1.0. I am unique. And intermittently humorous. And occasionally charming. And stuff. So get off my back. But first, be sure to understand this one simple thing: I’ve not seen these movies, nor have I researched any of them. I am putting my trust in my former geek pop culture osmosis powers to help support my very transparently uninformed opionions. All of the film information presented here, including the plot summary, have been pulled from the Opening This Week page of IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/nowplaying/). This week we are previewing Kick-Ass, Death At A Funeral, and Exit Through the Gift Shop, amongst others.

Now, if it is perfectly okay with you, let’s continue this discussion after the jump.

Episode Review: V – John May (Season 1, Episode 7)

I’m late. I know. Hopefully, the expectation wasn’t interminable for all of you as you waited for this exciting recap.

This week on a very special episode of “V”: Erica, Ryan and Jack seek out the legendary John May to rescue Georgie; Tyler probes his mysterious past during a confrontation with his mother; Chad visits the mother ship to report on Anna’s Live Aboard program.

Excellent. Let’s get to the nitty gritty, right after the jump.

Episode Review: V – Pound of Flesh (Season 1, Episode 6)

Republibot 1.0's picture

Welcome back my fellow V-ites. According to our ever handy Comcast program synopsis, on tonight’s very special episode of “V”: Anna launches a pilot program to allow select groups of humans to live on the spaceships; Tyler uncovers a secret about his mom; Valerie’s accelerated pregnancy becomes an issue for Ryan; a sacrifice is made to save Ryan.

Before we get started I just wanted to be honest and state for the record that I question how good of a reviewer I am for this show, because I honestly don’t like it. It is painful to sit through. It has a terrible pacing problem. The story feels like it was written by a secluded writer suffering from Michael Bay syndrome. It just jumps around wantonly every 5 seconds. Lost has a ton of storylines that it is juggling but I always feel like they take the appropriate amount of time that each character requires. V on the other hand feels like the whole story is being told in short hand.

Anyway, enough of my whining – let’s get down the reason you are most likely here, right after the jump.

Just to start off, I would like to apologize for missing last week. I had client in town on Thursday for my regular job and the day went long as well as Friday and by Saturday, I figured it was too late. But we are back this week, and what a week it is!! Well, not really, it is actually kinda mediocre, but it is thought that counts right?

First off, let’s get the small print out of the way: I’ve not seen these movies, nor have I researched any of them. I am putting my trust in my former geek pop culture osmosis powers to help support my very transparently uninformed opionions. All of the film information presented here, including the plot summary, have been pulled from the Opening This Week page of IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/nowplaying/). This week we are previewing Clash of the Titans, The Last Song, and Why Did I Get Married Too, amongst others.
