Episode Review: V – Laid Bare (Season 2, Episode 3)

Republibot 1.0's picture

I am only a day slow on this. I am getting better. I think I got this recap thing figured out to where I can write it in about 2 hours including viewing time. It helps that the show is terrible, so all I really have to do is note what happens without actually caring and getting caught up in the story. This week’s episode only moves the story incrementally forward even though it feels like a ton of stuff happened.

This week’s episode is called “Laid Bare”, and according to the cable show guide: “Lisa’s body undergoes changes; Anna dispatches Ryan to find Agent Malik after she goes missing.”

Episode Review: V – Serpent's Tooth (Season 2, Episode 3)

Ok, here we go. Back for a shortened (thankfully) season of reviews of this terrible, terrible show. Sorry I missed last week, I will try to loop back and review the season premiere as soon as I can get my hands on it. My only prayer this year is that it doesn’t get canceled mid-season and then they dump all of the remaining episodes into one marathon back to back showing all at once, like Syfy did with Caprica. I honestly don’t think I would be able to survive that.

"V" Episode Review Coming Soon

Republibot 1.0's picture

Hi - R3 has asked me to shoulder the very heavy responsibility of reviewing the second season of "V" right here on Republibot. I am running a little behind schedule though because my Tuesday evenings are generally a mess. I have the show DVRed, I was hoping to find it streaming online, but ABC doesn't seem to understand clearly that concept.

So, check back this evening and I will have it up. If anyone knows if there is any legal place online the Season Opener is streaming, I would appreciate being pointed there. I knew the season was kicking off again soon, but didn't see any promos for it in my sheltered little world.

In the meantime feel free to join me on Facebook as I attempt to write a new joke about the Large Hadron Collider every day right here: Jokes About The Large Hadron Collider (without Sexual Overtones)

Chicken Little – Movie Review (**)

Republibot 1.0's picture

So it seems that the great philosophical question of my generation has become “What thinketh thou, Disney?” A lot of times this question comes paired with the popular discussion topic “The Wings of Pixar: Candle Wax or Real Feathers?” Both subjects seem to be generated by the apparent belief that Disney seems to think that Animation for Animation’s sake is all that matters. That they can slap the semblance of a story together, input the whole thing into a render farm, pop out a templatized feature length product and just by the simple fact that they epoxy their Brand name to it, it instantly should make it a quality animated film in the grand tradition of their storied past. While Pixar preaches “Story, story, story” (now whether that will continue to be true in the future is still to be seen…), Disney is all about the Brand. And that fact about Disney is nowhere more evident than in Chicken Little, the newest animated mass market twinkie from the Mouse House’s piece work animation assembly lines.

Tron: Legacy Movie Review (***)

Republibot 1.0's picture

This is a hard movie to review for me. I am seriously conflicted on my feelings here. On one hand it is a shallow rehash of the original with poor acting, lazy 3D, and a overwhelming lack of heart. On the other hand it is a big budget sequel to Tron!

If I had to list the first movies that come to mind that were formational to me as a youth, it would be made up of a very short list (off the top of my head, quickly: Seven Blows of the Dragon, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Sting, M*A*S*H, Excalibur, and Tron – and really, if you know me personally at all, that should explain a lot).
