REALSPACE: Last Shuttle Flight Rescheduled

The last Space Shuttle flight has been rescheduled for November and with launches scheduled for May and September the 30 year history of the Shuttle ends with a rush to complete the ISS. Funds for the Shuttle program run out in December of this year so NASA is pressing to get the last three flights off the ground.

REALSPACE: USAF X-37B In Orbit

The Air Force today has launched the X-37B into orbit on a classified mission. The reusable mini unmanned shuttle can stay in orbit for 270 days. This could be a new chapter in space or a handing off of low Earth obit to the military only time will tell.

On September 22 1979 at 00:53 GMT the American Vela Hotel satellite 6911 detected the telltale flash of a low yield nuclear detonation in the Indian Oceanm southeast of South Africa. No nations took responsibility for the blast. Due to a malfunction in the satellite’s other sensors, there was doubt as to whether or not the blast had actually happened.
