EPISODE REVIEW: Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey: “Hiding in the Light” (Episode 5)

Here’s the thing: While the new Cosmos is certainly not a disaster by any stretch of the imagination, and while it’s been getting good reviews from the media at large, I’m not sure I buy it. The people I’ve spoken to in my daily capacity as a blogger and crazy person – some I know, and a whole lot more I don’t – all seem to feel disappointed by it. It’s not that it’s a bad show, it’s just that it’s not living up to its namesake. On any point you care to compare, music, writing, hosting duties, even as simple nostalgia, it suffers when put up against the same points in the original.

EPISODE REVIEW: Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey: “A Sky Full of Ghosts” (Episode 4)

I took two pretty bad blows to the head today, and am debating whether or not I’ve got a concussion and whether or not I should go to a doctor. I’m also contemplating whether or not I’d miss being really really smart. On the one hand, I like being able to understand stuff. On the other hand, honestly, what the hell has being smart ever gotten me but depressed, frightened, and punched twice in the head? As a result, I’m not sure I’m in the best frame of mind (and may never be again) to review this.

I’ll give it a shot, though.

Me, Me, Me, Glorious Me.

Hey, everyone. Shameless self-promotion time:

As you know, I used to run this site, and I retired going on two years ago. About 15 months back, I started my own site, "Kevin Long (Dot) Com." It's located (rather cleverly) at http://www.kevin-long.com

It's a pretty good site. It's smaller than Republibot, and it's less agenda-driven. It's things I find interesting, which may or may not be science fiction related. I also put up my original fiction there, new stories, and links to my books for sale.

EPISODE REVIEW: The 100: “Earth Skills” (Episode 2)

Sorry for the delay in reviewing this. I’ve had 3 doctors appointments in 2 days.

Anyway: We pick up exactly where we left off last week, with Jasper being run through with a spear, and the rest of team Clarke hauling ass away. Despite being clearly dead last week, Jasper isn’t dead this week, and they hear him scream. Rather than going to get him, they head back to the landing site for reinforcements (Probably a good move)
