Lost in (dimensional) Space

Jedi Mind Trick's picture

For whatever reason, I’ve always been sort of a geek for multidimensional space. It could be my enjoyment of Lovecraft stories and their creepy, alien extra dimensional baddies or the fact, to me, its obvious that a number of the descriptions of angels and divine experiences in religious texts smack of someone that doesn’t/couldn’t possibly have the words to describe encounters with hyper dimensional beings or places.

Ok, JMT, you say, I get the first part…but why is finding a planet that is both Earth sized and in the habitable zone a not so good thing?

Mostly because it portends the near-term extinction of humanity…

Thunderdome match - Eugene Goostman vs Alan Turing

Jedi Mind Trick's picture

I’m surprised that this hasn’t come up yet on the site. Earlier this month, some crafty folks presented a computer program as a human named ‘Eugene Goostman’, for the purpose of toppling the venerable Turing Test.

Did it succeed? Maybe, technically...but not officially...
