I'm no psychic, but I'm going to offer some prognostications for the coming year--let's see how many I get right:


Despite their claim to being the most intelligent creatures on the planet, human beings will continue to do incredibly stupid things.


There will be a technological breakthrough that will change our lives forever.


Someone we'd thought was gone for good will be back up to his old tricks.

FAN FILM FRIDAY: An Interview With Michael Cox

A couple of weeks back, I ran "Star Wars Downunder" as a Fan Film friday offering. Well, instead of a new film, I have the pleasure of presenting to you an interview we 'bots conducted with that film's creator, Michael Cox. We are much obliged to him for taking the time from his busy schedule to reply to some questions we put to him about how he made the film.

Real Science: A Titanic Amount Of Gas

Now that all the Who-pla has died down, we can get back to talking about Real Science.

Indications from the Cassini mission show that Saturn's moon Titan appears to look very similar to Earth, with seas, continents, weather, and land features carved by erosion. However, on Titan, which is far too cold for water to flow, the liquid is made of hydrocarbons--methane, mostly, and in such quantities that, if we were able to bring it to Earth, there would not be enough oxygen to burn it all.
